Italians the biggest gamers?

Italians have been surveyed to be the biggest gamers in a survey that involved 13 countries. Newzoo reports that Italian's treat gaming as a 'social activity', whether it be versing eachother online or playing games with the family.
The data shows that the main platforms include PC / Mac and console platforms like the Xbox, Playstation & Nintendo. Most of the purchases are of the games retail boxsets (660 million euros), and downloadable content was only around 80 million euros.
It is also reported that a staggering 65% of all Italian gamers play online Social Games. Italy is also the main shareholder in the mobile gaming market, grasping over 30% of the share between all EU countries.
The findings include:

- 59% of the active online population aged 10 to 65 plays games.
- 44% of gamers is female and 49% of all 14 million active gamers spends money on games.
- 82% of all gamers play online casual or social games.
- Online and mobile games take 57% of 21 million hours spent per day on games.
- One third of PlayStation3 gamers also uses an iPad.
