$1.6m up for grabs for BF3 players
It's not often we associate monetary prizes with online gaming... But EA Games and Virgin Gaming recently announced the competition to mark the release of perhaps the biggest game of the year.
EA Games have unveiled the competition along with Virgin gaming announcing "The online tournament begins in early 2012 and will culminate with a live grand finale where the players with the best Battlefield skills will walk away with a share of the $1.6 million prize pool".
With the information given, we can ascertain that New Zealand fans of the game can compete in the competition for the large sum.
"We're always looking to raise the bar for our members, to give them truly epic gaming experiences they won't find anywhere else and Battlefield 3 hits the mark," said Zachary Zeldin, Co-Founder of Virgin Gaming. "This partnership with EA and DICE is exactly the kind of relationship it takes to deliver on that goal, and we can't be more excited to be working with them to host the greatest competitive gaming event I've ever seen."
With such a large online multiplayer presence, the competition will likely draw hundreds-of-thousands of keen players and will ultimately rule the supreme players from the rest.
