Train Simulator
Microsoft Train Simulator was probably the best train-simulator game around since 2001, it featured rich graphics, beautiful modelled trains and control panels. Most routes were based in the USA, such as Marias Pass where you could shunt freight to Amtraks North Eastern Corridor Route which ran along the eastern seaboard.
While it is a rather old game, it is still a classic and is still used today. Many simmers looking for a newer version look to games such as Rail Simulator (which was the made by the Kuju who made this simulator for Microsoft back in 2001).
