Battlefield 3 Tomorrow!

By Matt | 26th Oct 2011 (01:50pm) | Views: 150

Hopefully tomorrows release of Battlefield 3 will change the way I look at gaming forever... Im pretty sure it will just based off looking at the actual videos & screens... But despite all that glamour and destruction you can never reallly be sure... So many games looked so good then when you play 'em your like "wow.... this.. is.. crap" then throw it up on TradeMe.

But either way, Battlefield 3 comes out tonight, it's a well priced game for it's status (as being one of the biggest)... for instance, the Limited Edition at Dick Smith is only $99.99 on Xbox 360, the PC version even cheaper. Remember when like Call of Duty MW and other similar games came out at like $129, that was piss expensive!

So yea it's looking up for BF3, EA Games today announced that around 3 million pre-orders had been made... Yet the U.S got access to the game last night.

If you have any reviews of BF3 when it comes out, send 'em to us!

Streaming Games from remote computers?

By Matt | 22nd Sep 2011 (04:17pm) | Views: 201

Eventually we may see games streamed from a remote computer to our screens as I heard recently. That'll basically mean we won't need super computers! Yus!

But it in turn means we'll need an intensely fast internet connection. Now I myself and you all probably say "yea well New Zealand's internet is slower than a paraplegic turtle" but in the few years it'll take to come (could be a decade in reality) the internet speeds us Kiwi's get will be a good lot faster (don't get your hopes up though).

Personally I think it'll be a great concept having our games stream right from the remote game server in god-knows what country. Why? Well i've compiled a list of advantages it'll bring to us.

  • The latest version of the game, ready to go. No more downloading patches, everyone runs the same version.
  • Incredible graphics being rendered on plain-jane computers. I guess the streaming will involve some form of flattened images (sort of like how a TV broadcasts images continuously 25 times second).
  • Loading will be quicker, in general starting the game will be likely as simple as opening the connection client for the game and connecting to the system. Then the super-fast server computers will likely load your games in seconds.
  • All new games & technology will continuously run on your current setup. With new technology (graphics cards etc) coming constantly, you won't probably have to worry as such. The server computers will run the latest technology as updated by the server owners.
